Community Speed Watch

Yesterday (21st) the Community Speed Watch Team returned to Church Road, to monitor traffic leaving Downswood travelling towards the Otham end.
Community Speed Watch exists to reduce speeding, improve road safety, and educate drivers rather than punish them. It is a police‑supported volunteer scheme that monitors speeds, reports offenders, and helps shape local enforcement priorities.
Most cars when leaving Downswood had started to accelerate whilst still in the 30 MPH zone but slowed dramatically when the Community Speed Watch team were spotted. However, there is always an exception to the rule and one driver is being reported to Kent Police for excess speed.
